This week I'm going to share a little bit about myself.

50 Things About Me

I think we should get to know each other a bit better. I’ll go first. Here are 50 things about myself that should give you some insight into what you are dealing with.

  1. Reading is one of my favorite things to do.
  2. Since I’m such a huge fan of books it’s hard but I’m going to pick a favourite. The Genius and the Goddess by Aldous Huxley. A work of his that you may have read in school is Brave New World. Aldous Huxley is one of my favourite authors and wrote my favourite book The Genius and the Goddess.
  3. My house is 100 years old. It has way more life experience than me. Hopefully I can learn something.
  4. If it’s alive, I’m probably allergic to it. My seasonal allergies are awful and I’m also allergic to pets.  😦
  5. If I do venture out into nature, I prefer walking near water or sitting on my deck looking at the stars.
  6. Since I can’t own pets, I always get excited to see wildlife when I’m out. Bunnies, ducks, swans and turtles are on the top of my list.
  7. I’m addicted to cheese.
  8. At work I eat the same thing for lunch everyday because it’s so easy I can make it without thinking and because I’m boring.
  9. For a while I used to jog, but apparently I wasn’t very good at it. So I stopped after I broke my foot. It’s for the best. Running is tough.
  10. I’m left handed. Writing with pens makes me messy, ink just gets all over.
  11. Summer is where it’s at in the seasonal line up. Winter just feels like something to suffer through.
  12. The household chore I like least is ironing. It’s horrible and dangerous for the un-coordinated.
  13. Being on time is something I struggle with daily.
  14. I’m not a morning person. I am very much a night owl and really don’t hit my stride until afternoon. Unless of course I’ve had to get up early. Then I need a nap by mid-afternoon.
  15. Even though I own far too many shoes for one person, I am not a fan of wearing socks. My feet like sandals. They just want to be free.
  16. No e-readers here, I like to read and own a physical copy of my books.
  17. I love going to book sales. I use an app to keep organized so I don’t get doubles. I don’t even want to think about culling my collection even though I should. The more the merrier.
  18. I don’t eat meat. Don’t worry I won’t try to get you to eat your vegetables; some of my best friends are meatatarians. (Maybe you can win friends with salad.)
  19. Soup or hot drinks take me ages to eat or drink, they always burn my mouth if I don’t. My Dad likes to say that I wait so long they form ice.
  20. There is not enough sunscreen in the world to keep me from getting a sunburn in the summer. I try to just avoid sun exposure.Out for a nice waterfront stroll.
  21. One of my the best small pleasures in life is getting into a bed with freshly washed sheets.
  22. A seemingly unnecessary appliance that I cannot live without is a towel warmer. It is luxurious.
  23. My favorite movie is Rear Window. Grace Kelly has the most amazing wardrobe in this film. Plus it really is a great movie.
  24. I use my sunroof mostly at night or early in the morning. The sun gets in the way the rest of the time.
  25. My dream would be to have a novel published.
  26. Sleeping in is the best feeling. Like when your alarm goes off but you have the satisfaction of knowing you don’t have to be anywhere and can sleep longer.
  27. I don’t like grocery shopping. I find grocery stores depressing.
  28. I love cotton candy, but only the blue kind. The pink doesn’t taste as good. Whenever I buy any at a stand I always ask for a bag with more blue than pink.
  29. I don’t have cable so I don’t watch TV, but I am addicted to YouTube.
  30. Recently I started switching all my beauty products over to ones with natural ingredients. I want to try and avoid nasty chemicals. Most of the products I now use daily.
  31. I am an only child.
  32. I don’t like large crowds. They make me nervous.
  33. The X-Files is my favourite TV show. But some very close competitors are Star Trek: The Next Generation and Twin Peaks.
  34. The amount of legs a creature has is in direct correlation to how afraid of it I will be. Centipedes for instance are off the chart on how much they freak me out.
  35. I went to college for Fashion Merchandising.
  36. When I was in college I loved buying fashion magazines to look at and be inspired by the advertisements.
  37. Chocolate is a weakness of mine. I especially love chocolate with chili in it.
  38. Nanaimo Bars are my favorite desert.
  39. My ability to spell correctly is seriously lacking. Thank goodness for spell-check.
  40. One of the best things about summer is going to watch fireworks.
  41. My favourite super hero is Batman. I was hooked on the Batman ‘66 TV show as a child.
  42. My best ideas always happen when I’m driving or in the shower. Basically when an opportunity to write them down is the least possible.
  43. I would love to own a 1955 Bel Air one day. I really love how the interior colours always match the outside. I think it’s so classy.
  44. I am near sighted and have worn glasses since I was a child. I mostly wear contacts now.
  45. Mannequins are amazing. I have two on display in the house plus a bust form I made during college. I also have a box of mannequin arms and hands in the basement with my Halloween decorations. More than one person I know thinks owning mannequins is creepy. This is the bust form I made as part of a college project.
  46. Being short means that when I go to the movies or a concert I usually end up not being able to see around or over someone else’s head.
  47. I prefer wearing dresses or skirts to pants.
  48. The colour I gravitate to when buying clothes is black. My closet is pretty much devoid of colour.
  49. My favourite meal is homemade Macaroni and Cheese.
  50. I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was 30. Now I’m not sure how adults survive without it. Maybe this will last the week.
